Part of becoming a Bat Mitzvah is performing acts of kindness that will make our world a better place – Tikkun Olam.

We chose Orr Shalom in Israel as the organization we want to support for our mitzvah project in honor of our upcoming B'not Mitzvah (in January).

Orr Shalom provides services to children and youth who have been severely neglected and abused, often by their own families. For the first time in their lives, they are loved, cared for and feel safe.

This winter, Orr Shalom must raise funds for babies and toddlers who need immediate protection in Orr Shalom’s emergency foster families. These babies have been abandoned, orphaned or have suffered horrific abuse and neglect by their parents. Each child comes to Orr Shalom out of crisis and trauma, often with just the clothes and diaper they are wearing.

Eight Orr Shalom foster families welcome these children, at any time, 24 hours a day. They give them warmth, love and hugs until a permanent family is found.

When we learned about Orr Shalom and asked how we could help them, they told us about these babies and the families who take care of them.

We want to be part of helping Orr Shalom reach their $50,000 goal to help these babies and families, so we set our own goal, too! YOU (our family and friends) can take part in this mitzvah, too! Please consider making a donation to Orr Shalom, so we can reach our personal goal to raise at least $5,400 (triple-chai-hundred) or more for this important cause! We can accomplish this TOGETHER!

Thank you for your support!
With Lotsa' Love from the Sisters Doing Mitzvahs!...

Ella's Story

An eight-month old baby girl, Ella, was left at a neighbor's house by her mother who dropped her off "for a few minutes". Ella's mother, an abusive drug-addict, never returned and abandoned her baby. The neighbor called the local welfare services who placed little Ella in an Orr Shalom Emergency Foster Home where she received love, care and support from her devoted emergency foster parents and the National Service girl until a permanent Orr Shalom foster home was found for her. Although she was abandoned by her birth mother, Orr Shalom ensured that Ella was cared for and cherished, and never left alone.
