BC SPCA Calendar Contest: Make your pet a star!
Corree & Daren .. and Buddha & Turbo
Meet Buddha! Buddha, a snugly and calm Himalayan, and Turbo, a rambunctious Dutch, both had a rough start in life. They met at the shelter where they bonded to become best friends. Buddha & Turbo came into our lives on November 5, 2005 and things haven't been the same since! Their personalities were completely different, but complemented each other perfectly. Buddha was shy, cautious and gentle, while Turbo was curious, friendly and a real troublemaker. We still aren't sure how Turbo survived in the wild because she's far too inquisitive for her own good!
When they moved in we gave them free run of our apartment (minus the bedroom, although that didn't stop Turbo from constantly trying to get under our bed). Many people may not realize that, for the right owners, rabbits can make great pets! They are very clean and will use a litter box like a cat. Buddha loved to eat and the prospect of food made him brave. He was very loving towards Turbo and he even chewed her toenails! Normally you'd have to cut a rabbits toenails, but Buddha did it for us. For lots of fun pictures of the 2 of them check out:
Very sadly, on March 9, 2013 Buddha passed away suddenly from what turned out to be colon cancer. He was ~8 years old. Turbo misses her friend very much and we are heartbroken. To honor Buddha's memory and hopefully make him (and Turbo!) immortal in the 2014 Calendar we are asking you to help us fundraise for the SPCA. Each dollar you donate counts as 1 vote. The 13 animals with the most votes will be pet stars in next years calendar!
The SPCA receives no provincial or federal government funding so it's only with our help that they can care for these animals and investigate animal cruelty throughout the province. Your donation will make a big difference. And we hope it will also help Buddha & Turbo win a spot in the BC SPCA 2014 calendar.
In memory of Buddha, we ask for your support to help all the animals in BC shelters still looking for their forever home. Buddha was so awesome we want to bring him to households all around the province - everyone needs a little Buddha in their life!
